Jesus the Real Vine

In the Gospel today, Jesus teaches us how to remain in the Father’s love. He has kept the commandments of the Father, and so He remained in the Father’s love.

We can also remain in the Father’s love, and that of Jesus’. We need only to keep the commandments that have been set for us.

With this, we can say that Jesus truly is the way to the Father. He teaches us the things that we need to do in order to follow Him to the Father. He wants us to be with Him. He makes the first step of loving us. And so we are left with a choice: whether to follow Him or not.

Having been given a choice, we can say that God wants us to be free in our decisions. He wants to freely choose Him to be our Father, our Savior, our teacher…

As I write this, I have the image of a couple. In the courtship stage, the lover normally woos the loved one. The lover may do anything to give comfort, convenience, and even joy to the loved one. And, at the end of the day, the loved one has the choice whether to love back or not.

So, we are faced with a question:

Would we choose to love Him

or

Would we rather go on our separate ways?

The choice is ours.
